Old Work

I did this for Comic Con about 5 years ago. There are some problems with it but I thought I should get it out of the closet.

Wolfman 10/06

There are some anatomy problems but this was from a long meeting so it's a little more finished than usual. I'm art directing on wolfman so I've wolves on the brain lately.

meeting sketch 10/06

Rough color sketch off of a random meeting sketch.

Mummy 3 artwork 06

One of the final iterations of the dragon design. We went through many....

Mummy 3 artwork 05

I painted a lot of fur concepts to try to get the right balance of fur over anatomy. This was about midway through the process.

Mummy 3 artwork 04

We had to really detail out the skin underneath the fur so it would come through in the renders.

Mummy 3 artwork 03

This was an earlier incarnation of the Dragon design. I made expression sheets based on jet li's face.

Mummy 3 artwork 02

Some more concept art from mummy 3. Trying to see how molten bronze would animate on a running horse. We went through many ideas/versions.

Mummy 3 artwork 01

A set of facial expressions I created for the animators to draw from.

blue monkey 08/24

More polishing of the turd.

design doodle 16

here is some random doodles coming together into a shape. I bring a selection of markers to meetings these days so I don't get bored. There is some bad drawing in some of these, quality is sometimes affected by the way the meeting is headed...

meeting notes/sketch time

A little more finished meeting note. about 30 mins. She was relatively still so I could spend more time on it. I'm leaving it untouched in photoshop to remind me of what I need to improve on..... I didn't do the 'model' justice, she is a hard one to capture.

20 minutes this time

20 minutes worth of work, even though it looks like 5.

more characters

Trying to add a little story to the crappy sketch

10 minutes more

I swear, no matter how much time I have set aside, I only get to spend 10 minutes at a time on this. Distractions abound.

a little more morning time

Trying to put this into some kind of composition. I'm sure this is one one of the worst ways to try and design a picture, start with some crappy meeting sketch and bvuild a whole painting around it. Absolutely no planning involved just screwing around in PS.

changin' it up

adding more to the body

another 10 minutes

I wish I could spend more than 10 minutes a day on this. Work keeps getting in the way.

10 more minutes

adding a little more color before heading out.

morning sketches

Another meeting sketch that I'm slowly cleaning up. 10 minutes a day in the morning.
